Fulfilling a dream doesn’t happen without teamwork. Jim Valvano chased a dream that seemed impossible – winning an NCAA Championship. And he didn’t accomplish that dream alone – he had an entire team with him every challenging step of the way.
Jim’s other dream – to defeat cancer – is no different. It takes a village of committed donors and invested organizations to make meaningful progress in cancer research. The V Foundation understands this and is delighted to be able to work with other non-profit research funders and advocates toward our mutual goal of eradicating cancer.
We are so pleased to collaborate with the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer research. The mission of NBTS is to find better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for brain tumors. Our organizations are working together to fund high-impact scientific research.
The V Foundation has been funding research for all types of cancers since 1993. In 2015, we made a special push to fund pediatric cancers, and in particular, pediatric brain cancer. NBTS raised a paddle at the 2015 Wine Celebration Fund A Need to support pediatric brain cancer research. This commitment was part of the overwhelming support from our donors to match a challenge by an anonymous donor to make a significant investment in pediatric brain tumor research. In total, an additional $6 million dollars will be spent on stellar pediatric brain tumor research. We are working together to identify the best research projects to support with these funds and look forward to even more collaborations in the future.
Thank you for being part of a team that is making a difference in cancer research. Working together toward our common goal means faster progress and more lives saved.
